Wintersong

I thought I would post some pictures to show you what I've been up to within the past month!

Here are the girls that are in my Bible study, all together at the last Friday Nav Night we had for the semester! That was the last time I saw them - I won't see them again till school resumes mid January...I already miss them! We all have been writing each other on Facebook though so its nice to keep in touch while away.

Shortly after this evening I went home and packed, and drove to Frederick, MD early Saturday morning to be with Nate all day Saturday. He had a work party that we got to go to. But before that, he had a surprise for me!

His roommate, Tim (shout out!), took this photo of us in the kitchen of their row house. We are heading out the door for the surprise. I was told I needed to wear close-toed shoes...with backs...I thought we were gearing up for a hike...which would've been fine and all since I AM FROM COLORADO for goodness sakes - but a girl like me needs mental prep before I just romp through the woods...so I was nervous.

However! To my joy on this cold rainy day, he surprised me by taking me to his work so I could have a tour of BP Solar! This is a biiig deal because I have wanted to see where he works for a long time - I have seen the outside but couldn't go in because you have to go through all this stuff, and basically get the plant manager's approval. So Nate went ahead and did all that and I got to go in! That's why I needed close-toed shoes - because you're around machinery and things...Nate has learned so much about this industry in such a short amount of time - it was fun hearing about the processes to make solar panels - it all is a little over my head! That was a fun surprise. = )

Then we got dressed up and went to BP's Christmas party. That was a LOT of fun.

Here we are in front of a tree at the hotel where the party was. It was blizzarding outside which was quite appropriate for a Christmas party!

I took a photo of the nice table decor - BP does it up right!

Then on Sunday EARLY morning, Nate drove me to the airport in Baltimore (thanks Nate!) so I could fly to the Springs. Then I got picked up by my lovely parents (thank you parents!) and eventually ended up at Glen Eyrie for a weeks worth of traning - such a great week.

I would wake up around 6 and leave at 6:30 am to go to Starbucks at Garden of the Gods (my favorite!) to get some alone time with God before a day of intense talks and lots of people and conversations! Here's a picture from my "usual" chair each morning.

Here's a picture of the sunrise coming on the beautiful mountains I have missed so much!

and another...ahhhh I love these mountains.

and another...after living away from these mountains I no longer take them for granted when I'm around them. They have me awestruck frequently these days!

Here's a photo of one of the terraces at Glen Eyrie at night with Christmas lights! It was beautiful and had a fresh snow on it.

Here are some of my close girlfriends from my EDGE summits. We all do the same work, but all in different states, so we only see each other at these trainings. I love them!

and another...

And drumroll please ..... I got to meet up again with the guys I went to Holland with! It was SOOO good to see them and catch up with them again - I have missed them! I'm sure we'll be friends for a long time.

Here's a photo of one of our sessions - we would frequently have to turn to the people next to us and dialouge about points that were brought up in the talk.

And lastly, here's a photo of some deer I saw as I was driving away from the Glen! Looove them.

I still can't believe this semester is over. I've already been at Penn State for 3 semesters now - I can't believe it!!!

Tomorrow is Christmas Eve and I'm so excited because Kelsey and Matt (shout out!) are driving all the way from Texas and Stacia (shoooouuutt out!) is driving all the way from Parker, CO (haha, so like 45 min...) and we'll all be reunited again! Its been a while since that's happened. HIP HIP HOORAY!

Maryn, Your pics of the Glen make me so homesick for the mountains. Please enjoy every moment you get out there. Can't wait to see you when you get back!

ok so i don't think you should ever start a post w/anything slightly related to saying "and nate had a surprise for me" UNLESS the story ends w/a big shiny rock... and not an outdoor type of rock if you know what i mean : ) anyways, thanks for the update and photos! i too absolutely LOVED the mtns of colo spgs when we made it back last week : )

Thanks Maryn! Although, I have to give most of the credit to Josh. He is really the decorating mastermind. It's true. :)
